Murray River Bridge structural design and construction engineering

The Murray River Bridge is a 110 metre long, slab-on-girder bridge with two lanes across three spans, located five kilometres west of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. The bridge comprises five steel girders with a main span length of 50 metres. The expansion joint on the west end of the bridge had undergone several temporary repairs and required a complete replacement.

Allnorth was engaged by the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure to provide design details for replacement deck joints at both ends of the bridge. The scope of work included detailing modifications to the bearings at the west abutment allowing full expansion and contraction of the structure, a detailed construction cost estimate plus assistance in tender document preparation.

During construction, site visits were made by Allnorth representatives to ensure all repairs and installations were completed in accordance with the design drawings. Following construction, Allnorth issued assurance letters and record drawings to meet the project close out requirements.
