Meadow Lake Biomass Power Project, Meadow Lake Tribal Council
The Meadow Lake Tribal Council (MLTC) engaged Allnorth to complete a Feasibility Study and Class 25 estimate for the direct costs associated with constructing a 40 MW (gross) power generation facility on their property adjacent to the NorSask Sawmill located near Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. A preliminary construction environmental management plan (CEMP) and preliminary geotechnical study were also prepared for the feasibility study. Upon completion of the feasibility study and cost estimates, Allnorth provided the MLTC with a complete engineering package containing documentation for civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control engineering and environmental services.
Allnorth’s responsibilities for this project included:
- Feasibility Study
- Class 25 Capital Cost Estimate
- Detailed design engineering
- Power generation facility design criteria
- Electrical engineering and single line drawings
- Preliminary fuel handling design and layout
- Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP)
About this power project
The Meadow Lake Tribal Council (MLTC) is designing a 40 MW (gross) Power Generation Facility on their property adjacent to the NorSask Sawmill located near Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. The Meadow Lake Bioenergy Centre (MLBC) will use waste wood, also known as biomass, as a fuel to generate electricity. The electricity produced by the MLBC would ultimately be sold to SaskPower.
