Gibraltar Copper-Molybdenum Mine Expansion, Taseko Mines Limited
Allnorth teamed with Ausenco to provide engineering, procurement, and construction services for an expansion of Taseko’s operating Gibraltar Mine. Allnorth provided engineering, procurement, and site management services for construction of a new, 4-bay truck shop and maintenance facility to house Komatsu 930E haul trucks, which have a capacity of up to 281 tons. The shop, which measured 225 feet long by 100 feet wide by 70 feet high, included an overhead 50-ton bridge crane for servicing the haul trucks; 2 air-handling units for ventilation and heating; exhaust fans in each bay with dedicated extraction arms; and 4 translucent mega-doors (40 feet wide by 28 feet high) to provide additional access to light. Allnorth also provided design and construction services for a new 600-worker mine dry facility.
Allnorth’s responsibilities for this project included:
- Site preparation and underground services
- Building foundations and superstructures
- Mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems
- Fire protection
- Construction support
- Capital cost estimating and budget monitoring
