Dawson City Wastewater Treatment Plant, Corix Water Systems
Allnorth was a key participant in this design-build project in Dawson City, Yukon. Allnorth worked as part of a multi-discipline team of 10 companies, led by Corix Water Systems and including members of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nation, to deliver civil and structural design and engineering. The team also worked with an owner’s representative who reviewed the engineering scope of the project. The Yukon Government acted as the owner who turned over the responsibility of the plant to Dawson City once the wastewater treatment plant was constructed, commissioned and tested.
Allnorth’s responsibilities for this project included:
- Surveying for site preparation and construction
- Civil and structural engineering for building and equipment foundations; building structures; clarifier, head, and UV tanks; and influent lift station
- Ensuring activities of various construction contractors were coordinated with the design
About this infrastructure project
This wastewater treatment plant in Dawson City, Yukon was designed for a city that swells from about 1,500 residents in the off-season to over 4,200 residents in the peak summer months. The plant’s primary concrete components consist of two in-ground clarifiers measuring 6.0 m x 24.0 m each, two head tanks at 4.0 m x 4.6 m x 7.5 m each, and a UV tank at 13.0 m X 4.0 m. The plant also includes two 38” diameter x 95.0 m deep aeration process shafts that interface at the base of the head tanks.
