Carla Leask

Project Administrator

What excites you about the work you do?

Our office is extremely busy and no day is the same. Where we are in Saskatoon is booming. We have been growing steadily over the past couple of years and we have a great group of people here. Recently we even brought in some new hires from Ireland. I also like the fact that I get a good mix of being in the office and out in the field at a work site.

What is a typical day like for you?

I always start my day be determining what the priorities are, and check to see if any new priorities have emerged. Each week I work on items such as change orders, resource scheduling, preparing estimates, client visits and site visits to see how our projects are progressing.

What type of people do you work with on a regular basis?

I work with all different types of people from Division Managers to clients and staff out in the field. I also help train new employees. The people at Allnorth are culturally diverse, dynamic, great personalities. It’s a very team-focused office.

How has Allnorth helped you to formulate and achieve your career goals?

We have a very supportive and encouraging manager. I am given challenges and I am working towards my long-term career goal of becoming a Project Manager.

How do you strike a good work/life balance?

My number one rule is I have lunch once a week with my husband or a friend. When I go home, a leave work at work. Allnorth has been very accommodating when I have had appointments – even when I got a new puppy!

I have been fortunate to have had a couple of different roles at Allnorth. I started as an office administrator in 2010, and then my responsibilities grew and I was promoted to a Project Administrator. I get to see all the different projects running out of our Saskatoon office, and I am currently the project manager for one project. The role requires me to be very organized and coordinate resources.
